Seal Bookends by Carvin
Signed French spelter seal bookends with a black patina, mounted on verdigris marble bases measuring 5.5 by 3.5 inches and total height of 8.5 inches. The signature is etched into the marble and each seal bears the Fabrication Francais founders medallion. Condition is very good.

Dog and Cat Bookends by Le Verrier
Rare French, green patinated Siamese Cat and Bulldog Bookends made by the Le Verrier foundry in the 1920s. Each are mounted on Belgian Black marble bases which measure 5 inches high and 3.5 inches wide across the front. The front of the bases are mounted with a logo which is initialled SCBA, perhaps they were given as a presentation or refer to the French animal protection group. The quality is excellent as I have grown to expect with all Le Verrier pieces, and they are signed to the base in the metal. Condition is good but the cat has been in a fight and has lot the end tip of one ear - which is barely noticeable.

Ref: F2371 . . . £540

Bronze Kingfisher Bookends
A pair of gold patinated bronze kingfishers, mounted on grey marble bases measuring 4 x 3.25 inches and totalling 5.5 inches high. The birds are unsigned, but of good quality and stamped bronze in the supporting branch. Good condition and with just some slight patina loss to the birds - not unusual after 70 years.

Ref: M687 . . . £190

Chinaman Bookends
Lovely French ceramic chinaman and rickshaw bookends, with a tan a blue glaze - they each measure 6.5 wide x 4 deep x 7 inches high, (17x10x18cm). They have no makers marks but some indistinct numbers on the side. Condition is excellent and with some unglazed areas around the base - part of the design from manufacture.

Ref: CH580 . . . £170

Ram Bookends by Le Verrier
These black metal bookends were made by the Le Verrier foundry in the 1920s and measure 7 inches high, 5.5 inches long and 2.5 inches wide (18x14x6cm). Unfortunately the condition is not wonderful and there are some big chips to the marble bases and signs of damage to the rams horns which may have been repairs or restoration. Priced to clear.

Ref: F1031 . . . £195

Fish Bookends by Le Verrier
Green patinated spelter bookends as fishes designed by Max Le Verrier and produced by the Le Verrier foundry during the 1920s-1930s and signed underneath. Each measures 3.5 inches (9cm) high, is very heavy and in good condition with some minor age wear to the patina, and one slightly darker than the other.

Ref: F1041 . . . £395

'Ecureuils' by Le Verrier
Le Verrier squirrel bookends. They have a green patination on Le Verrier art metal and are mounted on verdigris marble bases. Each measures 6 inches (15cm) high. They are early ones dating to the late 1920's. Condition is very good.

Nutbird Bookends
Another of my whacky nutbird items. These birds have heads made of nuts, beaks and eyes are phenolic and some have phenolic feet. The bodies are made of logs and are mounted on oak wooden bases. Each measures approx. 4.25 inches wide by 3 deep by 4.5 high (11cm x 7.5 x 11.5). They are similar to the ones produced by the Dunhill company known as the YZ Nutbirds. Condition is vintage and used but good.
