Clocks Page 24

Diane & Wolf by De La Tour
A French spelter clock set by Kate De La Tour, of a lady wearing a maroon, gold and black dress and accompanied by a spelter wolf. The clock is a mixture of brown, cream and green onyx and the lady figure is silvered spelter, although the silvering is now worn away in places to show the bronze coloured spelter underneath. The clock face is a bit grubby, but other than this she is still a very nice clock. Measures 21 inches high, 25 inches wide and 7 inches deep. Clock works.

French Wall Clock
A nice quality chiming wall clock, not sure of the wood, but doesnąt appear to be the usual oak. It has a leaded, bevelled pendulum window glass, with chrome strips either side and generally nice quality decorative features all round. The clock works and chimes, although some of the chimes are out of tune, giving a comical rendition of big-ben. I believe that the chimes can easily be retuned by adjusting the chime bar length. A lovely chrome pendulum and original makers plaque inside, in good condition with just a small mark on the top right of the clock face and some general wear to the key winding holes. 3 separate key winders, and you individually arrest the chimes. Clock signed by the maker P Moulin. 13.5 inches by 28 inches tall and 7 inches deep.

Bronze Lady & Dog Clock by Lavroff
Although unsigned, this bronze lady and dog are by George Lavroff, and are mounted on a cream/brown onyx clock measuring 22 inches by 13 inches high and 6 inches deep. It has a quality domed glass door and enamel face and is mounted on bronze corner feet. Unfortunately the clock is not working, and I am not convinced the clock hands are original. The movement appears to be in pretty good condition, and probably requires a clean and adjustment, although it is without a pendulum. Onyx is also in good condition. We also have another version of this clock (CL204) with its original garnitures. Please ask for pics.

Lady & Dog Clock by Carvin
A lovely clock set by Carvin, comprising spelter lady and dog upon a green and black onyx and black marble clock, and measuring 18 inches long by 18 inches high and 5 inches deep. Nice clean clock face, matching garnitures, and working well.

The Amazonian by Lavroff
This stunning clock is the famous Amazonian lady, signed under her foot by Georges Lavroff, made in the 1930s. The case is of sienna and rosso and grey pebbled marble with bronze leaping deer mounts flanking the modernist gilt bronze clock face. Good condition with just the usual patina wear in places and although the clock ticks, it does not maintain its tick and therefore requires a clean or service. Measures 20 inches wide and height is 9.5 inches (51 x 24cm).

Silvered Bronze Sealion Clock
French silvered bronze clock depicting a sealion sitting on rocks. Gilt clock face bearing deco numerals. Base is of verdigris marble and measures approx. 7 x 3 inches and a total height of 9.5 inches (18 x 7.5 x 24cm). Makers name Duverclrey & Bloquel, France, marked to the movement. Currently does not maintain its tick and therefore in need of a service.

ATO Clock
Rare French glass and chromed clock produced by the ATO company - Leon Hatot - who was renowned for his modernist battery operated clocks. He was the first person to produce a battery operated clock in the 1920s and they are now highly sought after by collectors worldwide. This one has stepped black bakelite base with opaque glass surround with chromed deco numerals, and the centre of the face has a clear glass viewing panel of the chrome movement. Signed ATO to the glass and the movement. Condition is very good with no damage but unable to test the works.
