Hoop Lady by Briand
1930's Le Verrier foundry statue in art metal (spelter), signed Briand to the base. Briand was a pseudonym used by Marcel Bouraine. I have several of this statue in this - the smaller size 12 inches (30cm) high. The larger ones I have are in bronze and one is signed Briand and the other signed Bouraine. This lady has the silvered finish and condition is very good.

A French spelter lady toga dancer, similar to the Godard bubble-dancer and probably modelled on the same theatrical performance. This one appears to be unsigned but undoubtedly by Carlier. She is the larger version of 2 sizes that were made and she measures nearly 18 inches high and is standing on a stepped triangular cream onyx and portorro marble pedestal base.
