Plaques 5

Art Deco Plaque
French art deco plaque with red enamel detail. It reads Gallia Paris which I believe was associated with COIFFURE GALLIA - a ladies hairdresser in Paris. It measures 2.75 inches high by 3 inches wide (7cm x 7.5cm). Condition is good with a bit of red enamel chipping due to age but not too major. To the reverse are 2 nuts and bolts - so this plaque was originally fixed to something.

Diane aux Fougeres Wall Plaque
A contemporary wall plaque depicting Diane the Huntress with dog and deer standing amidst ferns. The plaque is made of gesso with leaf finish. The original of this plaque was made in 1929 for the Paris Exhibition by Celine Lepage its title is Diane aux Fougeres (Diane with the ferns). I have had it recreated as it is impossible to find an original one. The frame measures 22 inches by 17 inches (56cm x 43) and is made of black wood. Condition is excellent. Email me for closer pics. I also have this same plaque as a wall mirror.

Art Deco Theatrical Panels
These gesso panels are copies of the original Folies Bergere side panels on the facade of the building. They represent comedy and tragedy. I also have a pair in silver finish. They each measure 23.5 inches (60cm) high and 8 inches (20cm) wide and have a hanging hook to the back. Condition is good.

Ref: M4372 . . . £595 the pair

Large Parrot Wall Plaque Assembly
This unusual huge art deco patinated pressed metal parrot I believe originally came from a bar in Paris. It consists of a large parrot on a branch with a leaf. Plus 3 large leaves making 4 large leaves in all, 2 smaller leaves and a lovely bunch of coconuts! We do not have a framework for it and the buyer would have to arrange it as they see best and screw the pieces to the wall. I believe there may have been more of it originally, but this is all I have. It would look stunning if hung in a bar or in a conservatory. The parrot has a wing span of 38 inches by 36 inches heigh (97cm x 92cm). The biggest leaf measures 41 inches high (104cm) and the 2 smaller leaves measure 18 inches high (46cm). The coconut bar measures 31 inches (79cm). Condition is vintage and used but good, a very unique find.

Large Art Deco Panel by Rowley Galleries
Gesso female dancers and Pan playing his pipes mounted on a walnut panel. Each statue signed Chase. William Arthur Chase was a Rowley Gallery artist and I believe this panel was made by them. Whether it was made as a commission or for Chase himself I do not know, it may well be unique. The pan design was in fact used by the Rowley Gallery as its logo and is often featured to the back of Rowley items. It measures a large 48 inches long by 30 inches high (122cm x 76cm) and has 2 hanging recesses to the back. Condition is very good with the usual age related gesso crack marks which are very sound and a few age related marks to the walnut panel commensurate with age.

Large Relief Panels from the Le Verrier Archives
This pair of male and female panels have come from the archives of the Max Le Verrier Atelier. Each is set in relief in its original wooden frame. They are made of plaster and I am not sure what they were originally used for. Very stylish and geometric and stylised in art deco style. One shows a man in long monk style robes holding a book with a dove above his head. The other shows a lady in long robes again with a dove above her head. They each measure a large 63 inches high by 19 inches wide (160cm x 44.8cm). I believe these panels to be unique and are from the 1930s. Condition is obviously vintage but good.
